Week 27--February 23-29, 2020
On Wednesday we took Mike and the missionaries who taught him to Liberty Jail. We wanted him to learn about the history of the Saints in Missouri.
Pictured: Elder Tate, Elder Burnham, Garnalee, Tom, and Mike.
We also took Mike to see the Independence Visitors' Center. He learned the history of the Saints in Independence. He also saw the video "God's Plan for the Family" which talks about the Plan of Salvation and the importance families and the temple. We then to dinner at a BBQ place called Gates. We also gave him a congratulatory copy of Saints, vol. 1 and printed out the Sacrament prayers, so he'd be ready for next week when he will bless it for the first time. P.S. we saved the bones for JoJo, Mike's dog, who promptly forgave us for leaving him alone.
Sunday, Mike got to pass the Sacrament for his first time.
The fireside that evening was sponsored by the YSA. There were two speakers who found the Church after years of turmoil in their lives. He was on drugs and alcohol for years. She was abused as a child and until much later in life felt that she was worthless. Their testimonies were heartfelt and very inspirational.
It has been slow at the Visitors' Center so Sister Pulley taught Elder Harrington and Sister Smith how to make an Origami dragon. It is a very complicated pattern, but the results are as cute as can be.
Here is the Dragon family--Papa, Mamma, Big brother, and Baby.
Then sister Pulley and Sister Smith decided to learn how to make Origami dresses with the help of Sister Harrington providing the Internet. They also learned on the video how to use the dress to make a foldout card.
Pictured clockwise: Sister Romero, Sister Alldredge, Sister Mills, Sister Pulley, Sister Smith, and Sister Flindt.
For FHE Monday evening, at the Cannon's home, each senior couple brought a favorite soup or dessert. Garnalee made loaded baked potato soup which is one of my favorites.
Friday evening we had the Hill Park sister over for dinner (aka Sister Pulley and Sister Smith). We had French dip. Sister Smith said she'd never had French dip before, but seemed to like it. For dessert we had Mango float.
Saturday we start the day with Missionary Coordination Meeting at 8 AM. After that we changed and went walking in the mall. After lunch it was time to head up to Liberty for our PM shift. I did five tours, so it was pretty steady. There were a total of 58 visitors. For CFM we listened to the Meridian Magazine podcast and then listened to Elder Uchtdorf's video on being natural as we meet with friends and investigators. "Normal and Natural Interactions"
